About Us
Boy Scouts are between 10 and 17 years old. To join scouting, members must have completed the fifth grade or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award.
To learn more about Troop 194, please join us at a meeting.
Meetings are held Fridays at 7:30pm at St. Magdalen’s Church, 105 Mine Street, in Flemington, NJ.

Troop 194’s History

Troop 194 was founded in 1974 and Mr. Santella, a parishioner at St Magdalen’s (our current Charter Organization) became its first Scout Master.
While the ’70s and ’80s were transformative times for Scouting in the USA, Troop 194 continued on with serving the community and helping members complete their journey to Eagle Scout.
By the early 1990s the founding organizers of the Troop began to phase out of leadership and committee roles and ushered in a new cadre of leaders to carry on in their place.
In 1995, a Venture Crew was formed as a Patrol of the Troop, and later on, became their own unit.
The Troop left St Magdalen’s for a period of time but is now back at the church, as the Charter Organization and is thriving there.
After Scout Master Santella, we have had a few dedicated Scouters to serve as Scout Master: Rich Chrysafis, Rick Rainey, and our current Scout Master Stephen Lederach.
5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TROOP 194
- Troop 194 is Scout-run. We build leadership skills from the very beginning. The scouts assume leadership roles to run the Troop, with adult guidance and supervision. They also decide what the troop does!
- Our troop is made up of scouts from all over Hunterdon County.
- We’re open to all boys ages 11 – 17…no prior scouting experience is required!
- Our Scouting Program is designed to be FUN while also building character, personal fitness, and citizenship.
- We do a lot of GREAT things! There’s something for everyone and everyone has a voice in what we do.
